Skin Cycling vs. Sensitive Skin

Skin Cycling vs. Sensitive Skin

How Skin Cycling Can Help Sensitive Skin?

Cycling products isn’t a new concept, but Dr. Whitney Bowe, a well-known dermatologist, who coined the term skin cycling, which went viral on Tik-Tok. It is a four-night skincare cycle composed of night one you chemical exfoliate, night two you apply a retinoid, night three and four you allow your skin to recover by hydrating your skin to improve skin barrier ability. The idea is to simplify your skin care routine to make it more effective, which can be extremely beneficial for people with sensitive skin for two reasons. First, complicated skincare routines can cause skin irritation due to over-exfoliating or excessive amounts of product types layered on skin. Second, spacing out products gives you the chance to identify what skincare product or ingredient provokes irritation and allergies. Our skin changes on a daily basis, influenced by our lifestyle, emotions, and environmental conditions, so following a minimalist skincare routine can be easily adaptable for your skin needs. Your skin can be transformed in two cycles, according to Dr. Bowe.

Cleansing your skin is always your first step for healthy skin.

Day 1 – Chemical Exfoliation – On this first night, specify what you would like to target: breakouts, hyperpigmentation, or redness. If your concern is breakouts, you can use our Balanced Gel Serum with 10% Azelaic Acid and 10% Niacinamide followed by our DeMay Night Moisturizer.

Day 2 – Retinoid – Retinol is an amazing ingredient, but it isn’t for everyone. For those who cannot use retinol or for those that haven’t used it yet, replace it. Swap a retinol product with our Calm Hydrating with Azelaic Complex that targets redness or our Passionate Vitamin C Gel to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Day 3 and 4 – Recovery – Apply our DeMay Night Moisturizer formulated with Phytosphingosine, an opulent night moisturizer that helps to repair skin barrier, calming stressed skin and reduces redness.

During the day keep your skincare routine simple as well. Use our Illuminating Peptide Serum for skin radiance, followed by our DeMay Day Moisturizer. Finalize, by using sunscreen SPF 30 or higher.

I would love to hear from you and your experience with skincare cycling.
